Using the 2009 Ashton Kutcher/Cameron Diaz comedy What Happens in Vegas as a focal point, this paper investigates three phenomena: (1) the digital afterlife of "forgotten" studio films, (2) the user-generated content (UGC) loophole as a quasi-legal preservation strategy, and (3) the creation of a collective "memory palace" where fragmented, low-resolution, or multi-part uploads replace official streaming access.
